Committed to providing the highest quality education
Concordia University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Furthermore, several of our colleges and programs have received additional certification. The following is a detailed listing of our current accreditations.
NWCCU Accredited
Concordia University was initially accredited by NWCCU in 1962 and has continuously maintained its accreditation through NWCCU since that time. Accreditation through NWCCU means that Concordia University meets the Commission’s established standards of educational quality and effectiveness.
School of Management
The Accreditation Council for Business School & Programs (ACBSP) awarded Concordia University-Portland accreditation in 2013 for its business programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within Concordia’s School of Management have met a rigorous set of criteria. In order for a university to become accredited, it must meet standards set by peer review accreditation boards. Programs are assessed using criteria such as overall university mission, program objectives and goals, student requirements for admissions, quality of education, and reputation of faculty.
College of Education
Concordia’s teacher education programs are approved by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.
Law School
Concordia University School of Law is fully approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-6738.
Nursing
Concordia’s baccalaureate degree in nursing program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. This extra level of accreditation makes Concordia University one of the most elite nursing schools in the region. This designation allows Concordia nursing graduates to apply for careers in federal government – including military and Veteran’s Administration positions – and offers a smoother path to graduate nursing programs. The nursing program is also fully approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Social Work
Concordia University is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Because our program meets the rigorous standards set by this organization, Concordia social work graduates can reduce the time it takes to complete a master’s in social work by one year.
